I thought about some of these things and they made me laugh (mostly at myself), so I thought I'd post a list. See if your a mom too. I'm sure my list will change some as my kids get older. Have anything to add to the list? Feel free to add in the comments. Happy reading.
1. You answer only to mom, in fact if someone calls you by your first name it sounds foreign.
2. If you get a chance to grocery shop alone, you go down the isles verrrrryyy slowwwwwlyyy.
3. It is 4pm and you still are in your pj's and haven't showered or done your hair. You wonder if this is how the kids will remember you looking.
4. Your kids don't recognize you or are shocked if you dress up, do your hair and actually get makeup on.
5. When you excuse yourself to go to the restroom you say, "I need to go potty".
6. You use the words pee-pee, poo-poo, teethies, etc
7.When you have a baby all the adult conversations you have revolve around poop and sleeping patterns.
8. If you lock yourself in the bathroom there is still door banging and little hands sticking through the bottom.
9. You can tell which of your children it is just by the child's scream, cry, laugh, etc.
10. You are tired of all the hand washing, clothes washing, bottom wiping, dish washing, etc.
11. Your car should be yellow with a fare counter for all the running around that you do.
12. There are times you are on the road more than you are at home.
13. Going on the vacation with small children is NOT a vacation, it is packing up your whole house and moving it to a temporary location.
14. You sneak into your kids' rooms at night and watch them sleep. You make sure they are all tucked in and comfortable.
15. It makes you sad to see how fast they are growing up. It is depressing when your baby or toddler moves up a clothing size.
16. You have some story books memorized word for word.
17. Little embarrasses you anymore. If your child has a fit or is loud in public you get more annoyed with the annoyed people, thinking, "Good grief, they are a child and I'm not done raising them yet."
18. You would rather buy your child something they need than an outfit for yourself. If you head out to by yourself some clothes you may come home with more for your kids than for yourself.
19. You are becoming your mother. There are times you realize you sound like your mother.
20. When shopping with the kids you have come up with games such as "speed shopping".
21. You are just chasing one mess after another. (See #10)
22. You keep too many things from your kids, everything can become a memento (better to get rid of it right away before it gets to be something that reminds you of when they were smaller; then it becomes harder to part with).
23. Your social life seems to revolve around play dates.
24. You are able to yell at your kids and a second later answer the phone or the door pleasantly.
25. Only you know what your 3 year old is saying.
26. Sometimes it is so hard to say no.
27. Your van/car is constantly needing to be cleaned out from all the toys, trash, fries, smashed candy, many of which may be snuck by you and get in (ie melted crayons!)
28. Sometimes you wonder if you've lost your voice. You must have because the kids sure don't act like they have heard you the first 3 times.
29. You have tried more than one method for chores.
30. It is easier to eat the mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, etc. than to make a whole other meal for yourself too at lunchtime. (It peeves you to find out your husband has gotten to go out to lunch with ADULTS for work again, and not eat mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, etc.).
31. When making plans Your first thought is how will I do this with the kids in tow or can I get a babysitter.
32. You think about going back to babysitting....they make bucks for doing less than you do. Babysitters though can be like gold.
33. If you have some free time to yourself (wow!) then you have a hard time deciding between usually 2 things...cleaning or sleeping. If you choose the last you usually feel guilty.
